Fed: Live sheep exports may resume

CANBERRA, Oct 31 AAP - Live sheep exports to the Middle East may soon resume from Portland, Victoria, after federal Agriculture Minister Warren Truss unveiled a tough plan to help curb unacceptably high stock losses.

The government and sheep exporters agreed to halt live sheep exports from Portland earlier this month after about 2,300 sheep died on a shipment to the Middle East.
