Qld: Birdsville race carinval attracts thousands

Thousands of people have flocked to the outback Queensland town of Birdsville for Australia's
most famous racing carnival.

Birdsville Race Club secretary DAVID BROOK says the normal population of 150 exploded
to about 6,000 in the lead up to the races, which start today.
