The Kinneret is continuing to rise, despite the heat wave and ongoing pumping into the National Water Carrier.

Yitzhak Gal, head of information at the Lake Kinneret Authority, said there is still a strong flow from the Jordan and other streams into the lake.

"I'm going to take a chance and predict that even without further substantial rainfall, the level of water is likely to continue to rise for the next 20 days or so at th...

Comparison of satellite altimetry to tide gauge measurement of sea level: Predictions of glacio-isostatic adjustment
Journal of Climate ; ABSTRACT Modern rates of sea level change are of interest because of concerns that global warming may be causing glacier retreat. Both tide gauges and satellite radar altimetry are used to measure the present rates of change in sea level. Tide gauges measure sea level relative to the ocean floor
Sea cycle clock. (changing cycles in stratigraphic record made by global sea level changes)
Science News ; Sea Cycle Clock Millions of years ago, along someancient shoreline, the sea level fell. Winds and rain gradually ate away at the exposed rocks, weathering their surfaces. The eroded debris was carried to the ocean shelf, where it mixed with the remains of shallow-water organisms and formed a

The return of Lake Kinneret

Volcanic suppression: major eruptions can reduce sea level.(This Week)
Science News ; Large volcanic eruptions can temporarily cool Earth's climate and, a team of scientists now suggests, lower sea level worldwide. The tiny particles of broken rock and droplets of condensed gases that a volcano ejects high into the atmosphere reflect sunlight into space. So, after an eruption,
A Near-Uniform Basin-Wide Sea Level Fluctuation of the Mediterranean Sea
Journal of Physical Oceanography ; ABSTRACT A new basin-wide oscillation of the Mediterranean Sea is identified and analyzed using sea level observations from the Ocean Topography Experiment (TOPEX)/Poseidon satellite altimeter and a numerical ocean circulation model. Without Earth's heat, we'd be sunk; Hot rocks below the crust keep North America above sea level
Chicago Sun-Times ; SALT LAKE CITY -- If it weren't for the hot rocks down below Earth's crust, most of North America would be below sea level, report researchers who say the significance of Earth's internal heat has been overlooked. Without it, mile-high Denver would be 727 feet below sea level, the scientists
