LUSAKA, Mar. 14 (PANOS/IPS) -- Disaffected residents of Lusaka
have long grumbled that their city is hardly worthy of being called
Zambia's capital any longer. Now it's official -- a group of
shocked politicians were told recently the city is really a
danger-zone.
From the city centre to the suburbs, Lusaka -- home to over two
million people -- has become so filthy that water-borne diarrheal
epidemics have become commonplace, especially during the monsoons.
Shanty towns have mushroomed.
