HAVANA, Aug. (IPS) -- The Beatles, jeans and long-haired men
were once considered signs of "ideological deviation" in Cuba. But
today, television and radio programs, a national rock music
festival and a space in the government House of Culture give
testimony to a new tolerance.
"Giros", a half an hour television program directed by Orlando
Cruzata, broadcasts the latest in underground Cuban rock music
every week, along with songs by new and old song writers in other
genres.
