Her eyes look at you across three millennia. Herself a pot, she carries one in her hand and another on her head.

This extraordinary anthropomorphic cult vessel, probably placed by a worshiper to represent herself asking the blessing and protection of the gods, is one of many pieced together from shards found at an Edomite shrine discovered a little over a year ago at Ein Hatzeva in the eastern Negev. It is on view as part of the dramatic exhibition "On The Road to Edom," now at the Israel Museum.
