Bethlehem Christmas: Arafat is coming to town

THE Christmas colors in Bethlehem this year are red, white, green and black, the colors of the Palestinian flag.

For the residents of Bethlehem, the expected visit of Palestinian Chairman Yasser Arafat, who is expected to attend midnight mass Sunday, is the major event of the holiday season.

"This year will be a special Christmas in Bethlehem. For the first time in the history of the Palestinian people, we are all free," Latin Patriarch Michel Sabbah said this week in a press conference.
