Encounter with Silhouette in the dark

IN the dead of that moonless night, I directed my jellied legs to the
designated park bench. It was overshadowed by the indolent branches of
a massive tree, the name and species of which I hadn't a clue.

As I inched my way to the bench, I strained my squinting eyes to
define the outlines of Silhouette, my first ever subject on the "Word Beat".

The interview with Silhouette also marked my maiden - literal and
metaphorical - graveyard shift assignment. I was scared out of my skull,
but the folks back at the office made light of it.
