Dateline: LISBON, Portugal In a gutsy home performance, underdog Gil Vicente drew 1-1 Sunday with Sporting, keeping the Lisbon powerhouse in second place in the Portuguese Premier League, a point behind defending champion Boavista.

Sporting defender Roberto Severo "Beto" drove home a goal in the 29th minute and Paulo Aves netted a cross in the 60th. Sporting now has 47 points while Gil Vicente stays in 12th spot on 25 points.
