Christian music thriving as overall music sales decline

Dateline: NASHVILLE, Tennessee Christian music had its best sales year in the United States in 2001, improving while overall music sales declined 2.8 percent.

"I honestly think there's been a spiritual hunger for quite some time, " said Christian singer Michael W. Smith, whose album "Worship" was one of the top selling Christian albums last year. "Now I kind of feel like we're a force to reckon with."
