JAKARTA, December 18 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of Students occupied the local
assembly building in Jayapura, capital of Indonesia's easternmost province
of Irian Jaya, refusing the Special Autonomy Law to be granted by President
Megawati Soekarnoputri on December 22.
According to the Antara News Agency, the students, grouped in the
Solidarity of West Papua Student Association, said that referendum is the
only solution to the province's problem. They carried banners saying "Papuan
