16 Guerrillas Killed by Army in Nepal, XINHUA

KATHMANDU, December 11 (Xinhua) -- At least 16 ultra-leftist guerrillas
members and two army men were killed Monday in cross- fires between the
guerrillas and the army in western Nepal, the Nepali Defense Ministry said
Tuesday.
The Royal Nepalese Army foiled the guerrillas' fierce attack at the
repeater station of the Nepal Telecommunication Station in Salyan district
after a 5-hour-long gun battle that lasted from late Sunday night to early
Monday morning, said a press release of the ministry.
