First Conference on Future Afghan Government to Be Held in Berlin: U.N. Envoy, XINHUA

UNITED NATIONS, November 20 (Xinhua) -- Lakhdar Brahimi, the chief U.N.
envoy for Afghanistan, said here Tuesday that the first U.N. conference
on a broad-based Afghan government will be held " somewhere near Berlin."
Brahimi, U.N. Secretary-General's special representative for
Afghanistan, told reporters after briefing the Security Council on the
latest developments in Afghanistan, that the meeting was settled to be
held next Monday "somewhere near Berlin."
