Hungary's Tourism Affected by Terror Attacks, XINHUA

BUDAPEST, November 9 (Xinhua) -- The negative impact of the September 11
terror attacks in the United States on Hungary's tourism industry has begun
to emerge although the industry witnessed a sound performance in the first
nine months of this year.
The latest statistics released by the Hungarian Central Statistics
Bureau show the number of foreign visitors to Hungary rose 2 percent to
24.3 million in the first three-quarters of 2001 over the same period of
last year, while the foreign exchange earnings from tourism increased 19.3
percent to 3.35 billion euros.
