NT: PM distances himself from CLP in-fighting

DARWIN, Oct 11 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard distanced himself today from Country
Liberal Party (CLP) in-fighting over the Darwin seat of Solomon.

A newspaper report that the CLP is stuck with a candidate widely regarded as a liability
within the party hierarchy could damage the government's best chance of an additional
seat in the Northern Territory.

CLP president Len Notaras has not denied a report in The Australian newspaper that
party figures plotted yesterday to dump candidate ...
