THE Government has rejected a plan by a Renong Bhd-led consortium, Marak
Unggul Sdn Bhd, to privatize Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd, the country's oldest
railway operator.
In addition, the agreement for the consortium to manage KTM railway
services will be allowed to lapse at the end of the year, leaving many
to wonder if there has been a change in government policy.
Marak Unggul is 51 per cent owned by Renong. The other shareholders
are DRB-HICOM Bhd and Bolton Properties Bhd with 20 per cent each, and
