NSW: Letter written by Matthew Flinders bought for $350,000
SYDNEY, Sept 21 AAP - The State Library of NSW has bought a letter written by Australian
explorer Matthew Flinders for a record $350,000.
The letter will be part of the exhibition, Matthew Flinders: The Ultimate Voyage, which
opens on October 1.
Exhibition curator Paul Brunton said the letter was the most expensive the library
had ever bought.
It was written by Flinders in February 1800 to his fellow explorer George Bass, with
whom he made history by circumnavigating Tasmania during ...
