When reading "Banking umbilical cord blood" (Health, Page F-1, Aug.
13), I was saddened that the procedure has become a money-making
subject.

For years, blood banks have been working to get pregnant women to
donate their umbilical cord blood for research to cure diseases. When my
daughter was pregnant, I suggested she look into it. Her doctor stated
