Elderly politician Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury yesterday switched
political allegiance again by joining the Awami League in what was like
"the return of the native." He returned to the party 22 years after he
left it in 1979 to form his own Awami League, and later travelled through
a tortuous political path joining Ershad's Jatiya Party and becoming Prime
Minister but later breaking away from it to head what was known as the
Jatiya Party (MM) with Anwar Hossain Manju as the Secretary General.
The joining ceremony was held at Dhanmondi residence of Awami League
