Israeli Druze asked to resist service
AMMAN, Jordan, Aug 20, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Arab Druze on Monday called on their fellow Druze in Israel to refuse serving in the Israeli army and re-affirm their Arab identity, but Israeli Druze leaders told them to mind their own business.
A two-day meeting in Amman, which was attended by some 120 Druze representatives from Israel and Lebanon, was called to discuss problems facing the Druze community, including those who hold Israeli nationality and are required to serve in the Israeli army.
