Profile: Demands by Berber protesters in Algeria

Host: ALEX CHADWICK Time: 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon

ALEX CHADWICK, host:

In Algeria, there's tension in the Berber homeland of Kabyle. In the capital of that region, Tizi Ozou, military police fired tear gas at protesters last week after they had stoned a police barracks. Authorities had earlier blocked Berber protesters from marching on Algiers. Riots swept across Kabyle last spring following the death of a Berber youth in police custody. From Tizi Ozou, Kate Seelye reports.
