James Corbett was a librarian, a rancher, a Quaker, philosopher and
one of the founders and leaders of the Sanctuary movement back in
the 1980s. Churches around the country took in refugees from Central
America, most of them from Guatemala and El Salvador. They were escaping
from political oppression there. Corbett and the churches took care
of the refugees, knowing that they could be arrested for harboring
illegal aliens.
