French Actor Belmondo Hospitalized

PARIS (AP) -- French film star Jean-Paul Belmondo was being taken by helicopter to a Paris hospital on Wednesday for emergency medical treatment.

Belmondo had been hospitalized earlier in the day in Corsica for what medical personnel described as a cerebral accident.

Joelle Lambert, chief of emergency medicine at Bastia Hospital in northern Corsica, said the actor was conscious and responsive but in serious condition. He was to be transferred to a Paris hospital at his family's request.
