HANOI, August 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam Wednesday expressed condolence on the
death of former Saigon regime's president Duong Van Minh.
In reply to a question on the death of Duong who died in California,
U.S. on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Phan Thuy Thanh said that Duong,
the last former Saigon regime's president, announced his unconditional
surrender to the liberation armed forces at the last period of Vietnam
War, contributing to reducing the losses of the war.
