DEZFUL, Iran, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mohammad Khatami on
Thursday inaugurated Iran's largest earth dam in the western province of
Khuzestan which borders on Iraq.
Addressing constructors and more than a dozen of ambassadors attending
the inauguration ceremony, Khatami paid tribute to those who fought with
Iraq during the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq War.
Khatami, accompanied by Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolution
Guards Corps (IRGC) Rahim Safavi, spoke highly of the IRGC's involvement
in the water conservation project.
