Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid called for a religious tolerance
and an anti-violence campaign among religions in the country.
Wahid's call came amid mounting demands from the people in the country
to put an end to communal bloodshed which has been taking place in the
provinces of Maluku and North Maluku involving Muslims and Christians.
Wahid said that Islam would not reach its glory if it resorts to
violence. "Islam loves everyone, Muslim and Non-Muslim," he was quoted
by the Jakarta Post Monday as saying.
