While last year's storms and floods ravaged the Center of Vietnam, this
year officials are worried that - starting with last week's - the worst
will hit the Mekong Delta with devastating effects on Vietnam's rice output.

The Mekong Delta posted its heaviest rain in decades last week and the
Mekong river continues to rise above pre-set alarm levels.

Flood protection officials in Hanoi and disaster-hit areas told
Vietnam Investment Review that the threatening water level in Cuu Long
