NSW: German defence giant to sue Australian government

SYDNEY, July 12 AAP - German defence giant STN Atlas will sue the Australian government
for up to $100 million over its cancellation of the tender to replace sensitive equipment
in the Collins class submarine.

STN's bid was recommended last year by a defence force evaluation team ahead of a US
bid, but this week the government announced the tender would be scrapped, The Australian
newspaper reports.

Defence Minister Peter Reith said that due to "recent developments" in US-Australian
