`The Hook' has died. John Lee Hooker, one of the last surviving greats in blues, died Thursday at his home in Los Altos, California. He was 83 years old, and in a recording career that spanned more than half a century, Mr. Hooker gained maybe his greatest notoriety for his more recent work, albums that featured collaborations with musicians including Los Lobos, Carlos Santana, and Bonnie Raitt.
