TIP Mines Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Thai Gypsum, has signed a two- year contract
to supply 280,000 tonnes of barite, worth Bt500 million, to Baroid Drilling
Fluids, one of the world's biggest suppliers of drilling fluids to oil
explorers.
The contract reopens a chapter in Thailand's export past, after the country's
barite export market share was lost to China and India about 15 years ago.
