North China Province Hit by Severe Drought, XINHUA

SHIJIAZHUANG, June 19 (Xinhua)-- For the fifth consecutive year, north
China's Hebei Province has been hit by severe drought.
Striking a total area of 40 million mu in the province, the drought is
believed to be the strongest over the past 50 years.
According to the local weather service department, in the North China
Plain, where Hubei Province is located, the temperature this year has been
one to two degrees Celsius higher than the past years while the rainfall
has dropped by 32 percent.
