ZIMBABWE: HARARE DRESSES UP FOR ITS CENTENNIAL

HARARE, Nov. 26 (AIA/GIN) -- From a small colonial fort and
trading settlement dotted with shacks and a population of about
2,000 people in 1897, 100 years later, Zimbabwe's capital city,
Harare, has blossomed into a huge metropolis characterized by
high-rise buildings and a population of over 1.5 million people.
Because of this tremendous development and growth, Harare had
good reason to celebrate 100 years of existence. And to mark the
historic occasion, wide-spread celebrations were held across the
city this month.
