The Finance Ministry is poised to introduce new housing and land taxes
in an attempt to raise an extra Bt8 billion a year, a source from the ministry
has said. The new levies are expected to hit the pockets of home- owners,
who are currently exempt from housing tax payments. Introduction of the
tax is all but a certainty, the only thing that remains to be determined
is when Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak will submit the new tax proposal
to the Cabinet, said the source.
