Fed: New Australian art history a journey through the landscape

CANBERRA, May 15 AAP - A new history of Australian art had broken fresh ground by encompassing
both indigenous and post-colonial works, former National Gallery of Australia (NGA) director
Betty Churcher said today.

Ms Churcher launched Australian Art by Andrew Sayers, National Portrait Gallery director
and former curator of Australian drawing at the NGA.

She said Mr Sayers brought the sensuous eye of a practising artist to the academic
approach of the book.
