Hungarians See Other Side of Ruler

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) -- Janos Kadar, the late communist leader who ruled Hungary for more than three decades, is again the talk -- but certainly not the toast -- of the town.

Readers are devouring four new Kadar biographies that have appeared in as many weeks, digesting new information about the man lionized by some as Hungary's greatest patriot and vilified by others as its worst traitor.

Revelations in the new works strip away the last shreds of patriotic legend.
