BASK: Townsville wins WNBL bid

BRISBANE, May 12 AAP - Queensland once again has a team in the Women's National Basketball
League after Townsville was today admitted into the competition next season.

Queensland has not had a team in the league since 1998 and WNBL interim chief executive
officer Matthew Cowling said he was pleased the state was once again competing.

"This is a terrific announcement," he said.

"It is important the league has a national focus and having a team from Queensland
supports that."
