Museum show recreates Vermeer's Delft
NEW YORK, Apr 03, 2001 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Any exhibition that contains 15 of the 34 paintings fully accepted by the art world as Vermeers (plus one attributed to the artist) is worth seeing, but the Metropolitan Museum's "Vermeer and the Delft School" is more than that.
It is the greatest exhibition ever mounted reflecting that golden moment in art history when one smallish city in the Netherlands was able to produce more great painters and craftsmen than could be expected of a whole country.
