Vic: Laws ban cash prizes from amusement machines

MELBOURNE, March 4 AAP - Amusement machines that offer cash prizes will be banned in
Victorian amusement arcades from Thursday.

The State government has introduced the ban as part of its crackdown on gaming.

Gaming Minister John Pandazopoulos said the move followed community concern about arcade
games offering cash prizes to children.

"All of us share the same concern about children being `sold' on gambling and becoming
conditioned to machines which offer cash prizes," he said.
