"Bare foot" priests for Tasmanian Anglicans

So-called bare foot priests without theological training will be ordained as part of
widespread changes to the Anglican church in Tasmania.

The Bishop of Tasmania JOHN HARROWER will also delegate much of his traditional authority,
as part of a program of decentralisation,.

The bishop, a former missionary in South America, says the changes go further than
any other diocese in Australia.

He says the state's four archdeaconates will be abolished and administration will be
centralised in Hobart.
