GEORGETOWN, Jul. 3 (IPS) -- A group of the region's indigenous
people this week fulfilled a dream to sail the length of the
Caribbean island chain with the largest canoe ever built, and in
the process unite the region's dwindling Amerindian population.
Jacob Frederick, a leading member of Dominica's Carib community
and Aragorn Dick-Read a seafaring British Virgin Islander along
with several others, began working on the project two years ago.
This week they reached their ultimate destination as they entered
the mouth of the Barima ...
