Inaugural Address Just Needed Tweaking.

In his play entitled "Richelieu" a 19th Century English literary lion, Edward-Bulwer Lytton, wrote these words: "Beneath the rule of men entirely great, The pen is mightier than the sword."

There has not been a 20th Century political leader or speechwriter who has not taken the second line of that quotation to heart. And this has been particularly true of American presidents who have taken special care to fashion written and spoken words that would exert strong power and influence on the course of human events.
