Spirited `Funny Girl' opens JCC season.

"Funny Girl," the story of Ziegfeld Follies favorite Fanny Brice, opens the 1996-97 season at the Jewish Community Center's Halle Theatre through Nov. 24. After an uninspiring overture, the musical springs into action, spurred by a larger-than-life performance by Sheri Levy as Fanny Brice, and the immortal melodies and lyrics of Jule Styne and Robert Merrill.
