Fed: Wool production forecast to remain stable

CANBERRA, Aug 23 AAP - Australian wool production should remain stable during the next
12 months, the nation's chief wool forecaster said today.

The Australian Wool Production Forecasting Committee (AWPFC), meeting in Melbourne,
believes the national fleece will remain around the 632 million kilogram mark for the
2000/2001 season.

The committee said next season's estimate was the same as the 1999/2000 season, but
down 1.4 per cent on the 641 million kilograms of 1998/1999.
