Statement of James H. Billington The Librarian of Congress
Before the Committee on Rules and Administration United States Senate
Chairman McConnell, Senator Dodd, Members of the Committee:
This past April 24, the Library of Congress entered its third century
of
service to the Congress and the American people. The Congress has
been
the greatest library patron in the history of the world by creating
and
sustaining a universal collection of knowledge and creativity, a place
to organize it, and a skilled staff to help navigate through it. My
