Qld: Casino shooter excused from testifying

A police officer who fatally shot a man armed with a replica firearm during a siege
at the Brisbane Casino has been excused from testifying at the inquest.

The inquest was told in earlier evidence that GARY GRAHAM STOUTE, of Nerang, on the
Gold Coast, held two security guards hostage at the Brisbane Treasury Casino for almost
three hours on December 29 last year.

The problem gambler had attempted to extort $500,000 and had threatened to blow up
the building and Jupiter's Casino on the Gold Coast.
