MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. (Aug. 13) -- The Department
of the Navy launched the USNS Red Cloud (T-AKR 313), Aug. 7, from
its birthplace
at the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company here. The ship was
commissioned
in honor of Korean War veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Marine
Cpl.
Mitchell Red Cloud, Jr.
The 950-foot ship is a Strategic Sealift Ship, built to deliver
roll-
on/roll-off, and lift-on/lift-off military cargo around the world.
