NOAH ADAMS, HOST: And I'm Noah Adams. Chewing gum never used to be
a serious endeavor. You just zipped open the package, read the little
comic, and popped the gum into your mouth. You chewed gum to pass
the time or to help you quit smoking maybe. But sales of traditional
gums have fallen off in recent years, and now some manufacturers like
GumTech International are selling so called "functional" gum -- gum
that claims to clean your teeth or to make you feel better.
