The President today announced his intent to nominate C. David Welch to be Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs.

Mr. C. David Welch, of San Jose, California, is a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, and is currently serving as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. He has had a number of assignments in the Middle East and South Asia, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, and Pakistan.
