UNDERGROUND RAILROAD BILL NEARING FINAL STOP ON PRESIDENT'S DESK

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Right here in Southwest Ohio, perhaps even in your own community, an important chapter in the struggle for freedom took place more than 130 years ago. Our region was one of the most heavily traveled thoroughfares on what is known as the Underground Railroad -- the escape routes to freedom traveled by slaves in the mid-1800's. Now, legislation in Congress is one step closer to passage to help preserve this powerful chapter of our history.
