LIANE HANSEN, HOST: Cockfighting is illegal in 45 states. But it'
s a popular pastime in the states where it's allowed: Louisiana,
Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Missouri.
In that state, there's now a campaign to outlaw it. Many consider
cockfighting a barbaric blood sport. But as Matthew Algeo, of member
station KWMU reports, others see it as an important part of rural
life.
